Ready to take a deep dive into the art of the potter's wheel?
This class is the perfect foundation for anyone who has ever wanted to try their hand at the potter’s wheel. Whether you’re a complete beginner who has never touched clay or you haven’t been in a studio since middle school, Valley Arts provides a supportive and inviting environment to help you grow.
Starting from the very beginning, you will be guided through the essential foundations of the craft. You will gain hands-on experience and build confidence in key skills including:
Centering and Pulling Walls: The core of wheel throwing.
Trimming: Refining your shapes and adding a foot.
Handles
Glazing: Bringing your work to life with color and shine.
Each session builds on the last, ensuring you develop a comprehensive understanding of the process. We encourage full attendance to get the most out of your creative experience!
This class is for you if:
You’re a complete beginner (or want to start from the beginning)!
Your Class Includes:
6 weeks of 2 hour classes
Includes 1 bag of clay + tools (offered while at the studio)
2 rounds of firing all your pieces (1 bisque and 1 glaze firing)
Access to Valley Arts glazes
Two weeks after classes to finish up all your work (if a class isn't running during open hours)

Materials
Your first bag of clay comes with the class!
Wear clothes you’re comfortable getting clay on, we have aprons to help, but they only go so far.
